The Financial Aid Advisor (FAA) is a member of the Student Finance team that closely partners with the Admissions team. The primary focus of this position is to explain all funding sources available to a student and ensure all necessary documentation is complete and submitted to the Student Finance department for each enrolled student. The Financial Aid Advisor conducts effective appointments that provide clear and concise information to students and their families. This position reports directly to the Financial Aid Manager (FAM).
The Financial Aid Advisor does not make financial aid awards or approve tuition funding plans. The Financial Aid Advisor submits documents to the Financial Aid Coordinator, who has final decision-making authority in the approval of any financial plan and all funding, regardless of source. All financial aid is packaged and disbursed by the Student Finance Department under the supervision of the Senior Director of Student Finance & Student Records.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meet with students through video, face-to-face, or by phone to explain all available funding programs and requirements, and present funding eligibility for Federal Title IV funds and alternative resources.
Screen students for various funding types, assisting the student with securing all available resources.
Collect all required documentation to complete the initial financial aid process with the student and assist in securing adequate funding sources to cover all educational expenses.
Provide entrance counseling to students to encourage responsible debt management and ensure regulatory compliance.
Review Charter College Credit with the student, ensuring the student is knowledgeable about payments.
Adhere to regulations as set forth by governing agencies and institutional policies.
Collect and process the necessary paperwork required for the Student Finance Department to approve the plan and package students.
Meet or exceed established deadlines for submission of all collected paperwork to the Student Finance Department.
Ensures timely addition of all activities in CampusNexus, including updating notes as needed for each student.
Guide students to the appropriate department when issues such as dropping courses or withdrawing from the College arise.
Assist with VA certification and audits when required.
Document all activities in CampusNexus in a timely manner.
Provide outstanding customer service to students, ensuring the student is comfortable with their financial aid plan.
Provide outstanding customer service to other team members and departments.
Other duties as assigned.
JOBQUALIFICATIONSAND SKILLS:
All Federal Student Loans must not be in default in order to gain access to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).
Continued employment is contingent on Federal Student Loans being in good standing while employed.
An associate's degree is preferred.
Customer service experience required.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills preferred.
Detail-oriented and well-organized.
Positive attitude.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Working knowledge of sales center techniques, technologies, tools, and resources.
Proficient computer skills in Word, Excel, database software, and use of the Internet.
Required to be a punctual, responsible, ethical team player, capable of working independently.
Varied shifts Monday - Thursday 8:00 AM-8:00 PM, Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, and/or Saturday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM as needed to support Admissions.
Occasional overnight travel may be required.
COMPENSATION:
Full Time, Non-Exempt

$21.00-$23.00/hr.
