Equipment Operator/Environmental Construction

FPM Remediations, Inc. is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Equipment Operator for a temporary full-time position supporting environmental remediation projects in Alaska and other locations across the US. The Equipment Operator will operate heavy machinery such as skid steers, backhoes, front end loaders, and dump trucks for earthwork, utility installation, and site development. The position is primarily based in remote Alaska locations with potential travel to other US sites. The contract covers the Alaska field work season from July to September 2025.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate construction equipment for trenching, excavation, backfilling, site grading, and utility installation.
  • Load, haul, and distribute soil, aggregate, and materials using dump trucks and loaders.
  • Clear and grub disturbance areas for pipeline and vault installations.
  • Maintain erosion and sedimentation controls following stormwater management best practices.
  • Assist in constructing site infrastructure such as access roads and stormwater controls.
  • Participate in safety briefings and adhere to safety standards and plans.
  • Coordinate activities with project team and supervise equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating heavy construction equipment in civil or environmental projects.
  • Experience with at least three of the following: skid steer, backhoe, front end loader, dump truck.
  • Relevant certifications such as OSHA 10/30, HAZWOPER, or operator-specific credentials.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and follow instructions.
  • Experience on federal or environmental remediation sites is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work 10-hour days, Monday through Saturday, during daylight hours.
  • Availability for occasional work outside standard hours with prior notice.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred for operating dump trucks and mobilizing equipment.

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass background check, drug screening, and safety training.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be able to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, lifting, and operating equipment. Work is performed at active remediation sites with environmental and safety standards compliance.
