Electric Power Systems, Inc is a unique company offering a wide range of services in the areas related to small and large utilities, industrial customers and Independent Power Producers. We provide power system operation studies and troubleshooting, design of new facilities and upgrading of existing facilites, consultation and studies. We provide services including the design of substations through 230 kV, power plants from 100 kW to 25 MW, protection, control and monitoring systems including SEL based relays and PLC based SCADA systems. We have completed many PV based systems in remote located and have integrated both PV and Wind power generation into remote diesel power plants.
Through our sister company, we offer unique design/build services for a wide variety of projects from power plants to substations, transmission and distribution systems. We are currently seeking a skilled Senior Power System Electrical Engineer to join our Alaska team.
Responsibilities:
Will work with other subject matter experts within the company in substation design, power system studies, protection & coordination, diesel power plant design
Will be a technical lead project manager in a company of over 40 professional engineers
May be responsible for the performance of or directing other engineers analyzing low voltage, medium voltage power systems, designing substations and power plants in unique environments, and project management
Will be responsible for developing controls and design for the integration of power generation of various technologies into the same plant
Required to prepare reports using Microsoft word
Develop proposals and project schedules for projects
Required to manage your own projects and direct others including tracking project data requests, data submissions, progress submissions to clients and comments from clients
Must be a team leader
Excellent communication skills and problem solving skills
Experienced in project scoping, estimating, and detailed electrical design
Experiences in management of and technical lead for, entry level engineers
Strong computer skills in Microsoft applications
Software experience in AutoCAD, SEL, Woodward, Comap, Basler, GE, ETAP, EasyPower, SKM and PowerWorld
Knowledge of VFD controls and applications
Field experience is preferred, but not required
Microgrid, power plant or utility experience a plus, but not required.
Experience in off-grid applications and integration of wind, solar, hydro generation preferred.
Capable of project site visit and project scoping with clients.
Ability to work independently and on multidiscipline engineering teams.
PE Registration required, or ability to obtain an Ak PE within 6 months
