Senior Java Architect (Contractor)

Location: Albany, NY - Hybrid

Contract Duration: 4 years

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Architect to lead the design, development, and support of enterprise Java J2EE applications in a WebSphere environment. The role involves working closely with OSC's BOC/CIO teams to develop secure, scalable solutions using Agile methodologies and CIO standards. Responsibilities also include mentoring junior developers, documentation, and supporting data analytics and application security efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop secure, scalable Java J2EE applications using WebSphere, Agile practices, and approved frameworks.
• Conduct system analysis, code reviews, debugging, and unit testing.
• Collaborate with CIO/BOC management for project reporting and issue resolution.
• Mentor junior developers and facilitate knowledge transfer to OSC staff.
• Document architecture, codebase, and integration strategies in line with enterprise standards.
• Contribute to data analytics, reporting, security testing, and enhancements.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Java J2SE/EE development within WebSphere environments
• Java/WebSphere solutions architecture
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies

• Apache Wicket - 3+ years
• Angular - 1+ year
• FileNet Integration - 3+ years
• SOAP Web Services (CXF/JAX-WS) - 2+ years
• Spring/Hibernate - 5+ years
• Apache Struts - 5+ years
• Mentoring/leadership - 5+ years
• GitLab - 1+ year
• Additional WebSphere experience is a plus
