Assistant Facility Manager (Fitness) NF-03

Description:

This position is located at the Fryar Fitness Center on Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Up to 25% relocation, recruitment and/or retention incentive may be authorized.

Eligible for 1.49% COLA.

Duties

  • Oversees the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate.
  • Assists in the development of budgetary and manpower requirements and recommends adjustments due to changes in program demands or hours of operation.
  • Oversees facility cleanliness contracts and standard operating procedures.
  • Assists with the scheduling and outreach of organizational units at the facility to include intramural sports (plans, develops, coordinates, organizes, schedules, publicizes, directs, etc).
  • Assist in the publicizing sports facilities, programs and events by drafting articles for local newspapers and as instructed by supervisor coordinates with marketing for posters, flyers and other promotional material.

Requirements

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Chapter 2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Possesses and maintains the following certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED. Must complete the following courses/classes: MWR Orientation Course; Customer Service; Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair).

Qualifications
  • Possesses directly related work experience in planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports.
    • The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
Highly Preferred: Candidates that possess highly preferred criteria and meet the minimum qualifications above will be referred to the hiring manager first. Criteria is verified within the application package.
  • Possess 2 years experience working for FMWR
  • Possess 1 year experience supervising a sports/fitness program
  • Experience working in an ice rink
  • Experience in fitness equipment procurement and life cycle replacement
  • Experience with an annual operating budget
  • Experience scheduling personnel
  • Possess a combination of education (an undergraduate in related fields such as physical education or kinesiology) and work experience as identified above
  • Possession of a nationally identified Basic Fitness Trainer Certification
