Position Overview Under general supervision, performs responsible technical work examining construction drawings, specifications, and calculations for the construction, alteration, or repair of residential and commercial buildings to ensure compliance with sound building principles, codes, and regulations. Responds to inquiries from architects, engineers, contractors, and other parties regarding building code interpretations. Prepares written reports related to plan review issues. Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a similar discipline, and four (4) years of experience in construction, project management, building design, or plan review.OR Master's degree in the same fields and two (2) years of relevant experience.Preferences State of Alaska Professional Registered Engineer or Architect License or equivalent in another state with the intent to obtain Alaska licensure within 6 months.Valid Alaska driver's license or ability to obtain one.ICC Plan Reviewer Certification.Additional Information This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA).
