SLR International Corporation is seeking an experienced Air Quality Engineer or Scientist to join our regulatory permitting and compliance team in Anchorage, Alaska. Candidates should reside in or be willing to relocate to Anchorage; remote work may be considered for the right candidate. This full-time position requires 10+ years of relevant experience and involves diverse responsibilities, offering an excellent opportunity for a senior professional to contribute to challenging air quality projects across various industries in Alaska and the US. The successful candidate will collaborate with SLR's Air Quality team to share expertise and develop a rewarding career in environmental consulting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with SLR and client health, safety, and environmental policies, including drug and alcohol regulations.
  • Manage air permits and compliance programs for industrial clients, developing strategies to maintain operational flexibility.
  • Oversee projects and teams to meet scope, budget, schedule, and quality expectations.
  • Serve as a technical resource for air quality permitting, including regulatory analyses and permit applications under NSR, PSD, Title V, and state regulations.
  • Review applicable regulations and determine compliance requirements.
  • Lead data analysis and software use to quantify emissions for permitting and reporting.
  • Develop and manage data systems to track compliance and prepare reports.
  • Lead negotiations with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients.
  • Identify business opportunities, develop project scopes, and support proposals and business growth.
Technical and Interpersonal Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, atmospheric science, chemistry, or related field; Masters preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in air quality consulting or related fields.
  • Experience with air quality permitting, compliance, recordkeeping, and reporting, especially in Alaska.
  • Knowledge of Alaska and federal air quality regulations such as Title V, PSD, GHG Reporting, NSPS, and NESHAP.
  • Experience with emissions inventories, permit reports, and compliance certifications.
  • Understanding of petroleum and chemical industry processes and industrial operations.
  • Strong skills in spreadsheets, calculations, and software tools for emissions analysis.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills for interactions with agencies and clients.
