DOWL is seeking an enthusiastic Design Engineer to join our Water Supply and Wastewater group. DOWLs team provides a wide range of services including water supply development, design of water distribution systems, storage tanks, pump stations, sanitary sewer collection systems and lift stations, as well as water and wastewater treatment processes. The position will involve a wide range of responsibilities and cross-regional work assignments. DOWL also holds a number of rural Alaska term contracts which are focused on providing modern water and sanitary sewer systems to some of the most impoverished and remote parts of the State of Alaska. Summary
The Water & Wastewater Design Engineer provides planning and design of water and wastewater systems including treatment plants, pipelines, pump stations, storage facilities, and other water-related facilities with limited autonomy. Duties include attending site visits, calculating pressure and flow capacities, designing underground and above-ground piping systems, selecting and specifying equipment, coordinating with government agencies and other stakeholders, and preparing plans, specifications and estimated costs for project bidding and construction with limited oversight. The person in this position is expected to exercise a strong work ethic, a desire to learn new design concepts, and have great organizational and communication skills. A Water & Wastewater Design Engineer should demonstrate proficiency with drafting and water/wastewater design software and be able to quickly learn and apply new design concepts.

Education and/or Experience
Candidates should possess, at a minimum, a B.S. degree (M.S. degree preferred) from an ABET-accredited Civil, Environmental, or Bioresource engineering program with significant coursework in water resources and at least 5 years of progressive experience in analysis and design experience in the water & wastewater engineering field, or 4 years with an advanced degree.
