Check out www.alaskacommercial.com for more information.Your Responsibility:Establish merchandising standards in the produce departments of each storeEnsure department merchandising programs, receiving and marking standards and ordering procedures and timelines are followedCoordinate store resets with Operations Manager, Marketing, Vendors, and StoreOrder expendable supplies for reset requirements to include tag request and check completed sets for completeness of items and appearanceEnsure department and company markdown policies are followedMonitor training delivery to ensure consistencyHelp to develop the metrics and analytics to ensure each store is merchandised to maximize inventory productivity, through item movement reports, category sales and store movement reportsDevelop seasonal product layout, flow, and seasonal timelines for displayReview and work with stores on their Perishable Inventory Results and markdown sheets to identify problems and opportunitiesRecommend new and replacement fixtures to improve sales and work with Procurement & Marketing to establish and maintain store profiles for merchandising purposesWork directly with stores to roll out a new warehouse management systemTrain stores on new methods of receiving, scanning, cycle counts, and inventory managementTrain stores on a new ordering tool that uses analytical forecasting to replenish inventoryServe as a liaison between Operations, Merchandising, and Logistics on new supply chain technologies throughout 2025-2026Skill and Qualification: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or one to two years' related experience and/ or training, or equivalent combination of education and experienceStrong customer service skills and customer drivenRecord of bottom line and sales results in previous rolesAbility to interpret a variety of instructions and great communication skillsComputer knowledge of Excel and OutlookStrong knowledge of the Produce Department operating principlesStrong analytical skillsAbility to work with confidential informationHighly self-motivated with a passion to bring our communities products and services to live betterAbility to remain calm and effective under pressureAbility to travel to stores 120 days out of the year (every other week)Ability to work some weekends/holidaysAbility to lift 50-70lbs. consistentlyWorking Conditions: Travel Requirements: This role requires up to 120 days of travel per year to rural Alaska. Travel is often via small aircraft (must be comfortable), often to remote communities where conditions can vary, and weather may impact travel schedules.Remote Locations: Hotel lodging is not always available in the communities we serve. Travelers should be flexible and prepared for alternative sleeping arrangements, which may include shared or temporary spaces.Environmental Conditions: Some work may take place in congested, dusty, or active store environments. Certain communities may have limited infrastructure or amenities.Climate: This role involves travel year-round, including during Alaska's extreme winter weather. Employees must be ready for sub-zero temperatures, snow, and possible travel delays or extended stays in rural locations.Office Environment: When not traveling, the position is based at our head office in Anchorage. It is a fast-paced, open office setting.
