Duties/Responsibilities:

• Help plan and develop designs for transportation facilities for private, commercial, and public sector clients.
• Collaborate with clients, utility companies, government agencies, and the public to identify project constraints and develop design alternatives for transportation improvement projects.
• Develop and present design study reports in accordance with government agency criteria.
• Prepare plans, specifications, and engineer's estimates for construction of roadways, trails, traffic signals, and non-motorized transportation systems, including roadway resurfacing and rehabilitation projects.
• Collect traffic data and perform traffic studies and analysis.
• Work with permitting agency staff to meet local code requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and practices.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with Municipality of Anchorage, Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities, and Washington State Department of Transportation standards and design criteria.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Licensed engineer-in-training.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work in a team environment with multi-discipline engineering staff at various experience levels.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to travel to various project sites.
• Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
