Job Summary:

The Lead Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all phases of construction projects, from pre-construction planning through to completion. This role involves coordinating teams, ensuring compliance with safety and building regulations, managing budgets and timelines, and serving as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and vendors. The Lead PM ensures that construction projects are delivered safely on time, within scope, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and manage construction projects from concept to completion.
• Lead project planning sessions, including scope, schedules, and budgets.
• Manage construction schedules and ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
• Monitor and enforce safety standards and compliance with building codes and regulations.
• Serve as the primary liaison between clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and internal teams.
• Manage subcontractor selection, negotiation, and performance.
• Track and report on project progress, costs, and issues to senior management.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, delays, and budgetary issues.
• Prepare and manage documentation such as contracts, permits, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure quality standards are maintained.
• Mentor and supervise site supervisors, assistant project managers, and other project staff.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in vertical and civil construction project management, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role in the State of Alaska.
• Proven experience managing commercial, residential, or industrial construction projects.
• OSHA 30 certification required: PMP or equivalent certification a plus.

Skills:

• Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, methods, and local building codes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Buildertrend).
• Strong budgeting, scheduling, and cost control capabilities.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in LEED-certified or sustainable construction.
• Familiarity with design-build and construction management-at-risk (CMAR) project delivery methods.
• Experience with union and non-union labor management.

Working Conditions:

• Work performed on construction sites and in office environments.
• Travel to job sites required.
• Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed based on project demands.
