This Senior Financial Aid Specialist supports the Financial Aid function at Herzing University with policy, procedure, technology, and process optimization needs. This role requires high attention to detail and technical proficiency. The Senior Specialist also needs the ability to generate innovative ideas. The Senior Specialist serves on the Financial Aid Compliance Team within the Home Office division of Financial Aid, reporting to the Director of Financial Aid - Compliance.


Education and Experience Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree preferred; High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of Title IV administration experience preferred; minimum 1 year of related experience required.
  • Experience with automated systems and processes preferred.
  • Experience with policy, procedure, and data system development using automation preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations related to financial aid eligibility and processing preferred.

Pay: Compensation is based on qualifications, experience, and circumstances. New employees typically do not start at the top of the salary range. Benefits include tuition waiver and reimbursement, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement plan with company match. The hourly pay range is $27.79 to $37.60.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Perform internal audits of various funding programs and collaborate on staff training.
  • Analyze Financial Aid processes and recommend improvements leveraging technology and reporting.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing for system upgrades, including designing test plans and executing end-user testing.
  • Partner with campus Financial Aid leadership on budget utilization, staffing, and resource management.
  • Maintain the FWS Tracker and resolve documented issues promptly.
  • Configure Financial Aid software for award year, fund, and document setup.
  • Support Financial Aid staff through troubleshooting and policy review.
  • Focus on continuous improvement in efficiency, accuracy, student satisfaction, and innovation.

Physical Requirements:


  • Remain stationary most of the time; occasionally move around the workspace.
