Summary:

The Training and Development Specialist enhances employee skills and professional growth through comprehensive training programs tailored to organizational needs. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and evaluating learning initiatives that support organizational goals, foster continuous learning, and promote leadership development. Tasks involve facilitating training sessions, developing and updating content, conducting needs assessments, and utilizing data analytics to measure training effectiveness.

As specialists progress through levels I to IV, responsibilities become increasingly strategic, including leading complex projects, mentoring junior staff, and overseeing advanced learning technologies and systems. At the highest level, duties encompass strategic planning, policy development, and collaboration with leadership to align training initiatives with organizational objectives. Championing innovative learning solutions and contributing to the organizations success by developing a capable and dynamic workforce are key aspects of the role.

Responsibilities:

All levels:

Develop, deliver, and refine learning programs using a variety of instructional methods, including in-person sessions, online courses, and workshops, tailored to meet departmental and organizational needs. Facilitate learning sessions, ensuring they are engaging, effective, and aligned with adult learning principles.

Conduct needs assessments to identify specific learning requirements and gaps within departments, utilizing surveys, interviews, and focus groups to gather data. Review and update learning content regularly to ensure it is current, accurate, and effective, customizing materials to address specific departmental needs and organizational goals.

Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure learning initiatives are integrated with organizational strategies and effectively meet the needs of the workforce. Maintain knowledge of the latest trends, tools, and methodologies in learning and development, applying this knowledge to enhance the effectiveness and relevance of programs.

Maintain accurate records of learning activities, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards. Prepare necessary documentation for audits and reporting purposes. Maintain learning data and tools. Plan and coordinate proper venues, timing, and technology needs for sessions. Maintain attendance logs, incident reports, and other necessary records. Ensure learning sessions, and other projects, comply with applicable regulations and policies.

Training and Development Specialist I

Assist in developing and delivering learning programs, focusing on logistical support such as scheduling sessions, preparing learning materials, and setting up learning environments. Facilitate learning sessions under guidance, helping manage resources and addressing participant needs. Conduct basic needs assessments under supervision to identify learning requirements and gaps. Collect participant feedback using surveys and questionnaires, and assist in documenting learning processes to contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Training and Development Specialist II

Independently develop and update learning content, ensuring materials are interactive, engaging, and aligned with learning objectives. Facilitate learning sessions across various formats, including in-person and digital platforms, tailoring delivery methods to suit different learning styles. Conduct detailed needs assessments to identify specific departmental learning needs and customize programs accordingly. Analyze participant feedback and learning data to assess program effectiveness and recommend improvements. Select and procure advanced learning aids and materials, ensuring the availability of high-quality resources for effective training.

Training and Development Specialist III

Lead the design and implementation of complex learning projects, ensuring alignment with strategic organizational goals. Mentor and support junior specialists, providing guidance and oversight to enhance their skills and effectiveness. Conduct sophisticated needs assessments involving multiple departments or complex organizational requirements, developing customized learning strategies to meet diverse needs. Prepare and present detailed analytical reports to management, demonstrating the impact and return on investment of learning initiatives. Lead the integration of new learning technologies and methodologies to enhance the learning experience.

Training and Development Specialist IV HR Only

Oversee the strategic planning and implementation of all learning and development activities across the organization. Lead policy development for the learning department, ensuring programs adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements. Champion the adoption and integration of cutting-edge learning technologies and methodologies. Represent the organization at industry conferences and participate in external forums to enhance organizational reputation. Lead major learning projects and collaborate closely with leadership, working independently with minimal oversight. Utilize strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence executive and leadership teams, peers, and partners across divisions, driving strategic initiatives and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Human Resources Specific Duties

Training and Development Specialists within HR collaborate with Marketing and Communications to create promotional materials for ANTHCs new hire orientation, professional development trainings, leadership development programs and the Annual Compliance Refresher Trainings, ensuring all materials effectively communicate program details and value. Coordinate with external community partners to manage content and delivery, enhancing the reach and impact of training programs to meet community and organizational goals.

Manage various administrative tasks within the HealthStream Learning Management System (LMS), including data entry, scheduling, tracking training participation, and generating reports. Proficiency in HealthStream tasks increases at each level. Implement mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through participant feedback, performance assessments, and other relevant metrics, analyzing data to make informed adjustments to learning strategies.

Training & Development Specialist I Handle foundational administrative tasks within HealthStream, including data entry and maintaining attendance records.

Training & Development Specialist II Manage intermediate-level administrative duties within HealthStream, such as uploading content, tracking user progress, and generating basic reports.

Training & Development Specialist III Manage advanced HealthStream functionalities, including comprehensive system administration and detailed data analytics to track learning impact.

Training & Development Specialist IV Act as the enterprise-level administrator for HealthStream, managing all aspects of the platform, including system integration, advanced analytics, and compliance with HR policies. Serve as a senior advisor to HR and leadership, providing strategic insights and recommendations on learning and development strategies.

Conduct ANTHC training sessions on topics such as on-the-job training, refresher training, and orientations, ensuring sessions are effective, meet employee needs, and comply with organizational standards. Edit and update SharePoint pages and websites to keep training information current and accessible. For the leadership development program, use Blackboard and ePortfolio to manage content, track progress, and engage learners.

Training and Development Specialist I

An Associates degree or progressively responsible relevant professional work-related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

Training and Development Specialist II & III

A Bachelors degree or progressively responsible relevant professional work-related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

Training and Development Specialist IV

A Masters degree or progressively responsible relevant professional work-related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

Minimum Experience Qualification

Training and Development Specialist I

Non-supervisory - Three (3) years of relevant professional work-related experience in training, education, human resources, or a related field.

Training and Development Specialist II

Non-supervisory Five (5) years of relevant professional work-related experience in training, education, human resources, or a related field.

Training and Development Specialist III

Non-supervisory Seven (7) years of relevant professional work-related experience in training, education, human resources, or a related field. Experience should include some supervisory or project leadership responsibilities.

Training And Development Specialist II:

Five (5) years of relevant professional work-related experience in training, instructional design, education, leadership development, or a related field. Experience leading training sessions independently and customizing training content. Advanced experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), particularly HealthStream.

Training And Development Specialist III:

Seven (7) years of relevant professional work-related experience in training, leadership development, instructional design, education, or a related field. Experience using instructional design software (e.g., Articulate Storyline). Educational experience including leading/facilitating virtual classrooms, eLearning and blended learning courses.

Training And Development Specialist IV:

Ten (10) years of relevant professional work-related experience in training, instructional design, education, or a related field. Significant experience developing training programs, leadership development programs and/or curricula. Supervisory experience, including at least one (1) year in a team lead or management role.

Preferred Certification Qualification

Training and Development Specialist I: Certificate related to training, education, human resources, or leadership development.

Training And Development Specialist II, III, IV (HR ONLY):

Certifications related to education, training, online learning, or training development, such as Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD), Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD), Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT), Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), Change Practitioner Prosci Certified.
