Structural Engineer (P.E.) - Heavy Civil Projects

Join us at PND Engineers, Inc. as a Structural Engineer (P.E.) focusing on heavy civil projects in Anchorage, Alaska. We are seeking an experienced civil-structural engineer eager to work on impactful and challenging projects that benefit communities and foster innovation.

About The Role

As a Structural Engineer, you will:

  1. Lead and assist in analyzing, designing, and reviewing structures such as bridges, waterfronts, and industrial facilities, including energy and aerospace industry structures, vehicle and pedestrian bridges, gangways, trestles, marine terminals, docks, harbors, and marinas.
  2. Oversee the preparation of detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD.
  3. Conduct inspections and condition assessments of existing structures, preparing technical reports with recommendations.
  4. Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex projects, including site civil design, surveying, geotechnical engineering, and permitting.
  5. Contribute to project management, client communication, and proposal development to support business growth.
Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A B.S. in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus from an ABET-accredited school (M.S. preferred).
  • PE licensure or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 4-5+ years of experience in structural analysis and design, especially with bridges and waterfront structures.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., RISA 3D, SAP) and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of structural loads, codes, standards, and construction practices.
  • Experience with steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both technical writing and verbal.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to mentor team members.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for fieldwork and meetings.
  • Valid U.S. drivers license, good driving record, and insurance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
