Job Details
The Director in this role is responsible for overseeing Government Contract Operations. This includes maintaining and expanding Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other documentation to support government contracting and contract management processes. The Director will support audits, contract negotiations, modifications, renewals, and government bids. As an operational leader, they will ensure operational requirements are met across the enterprise throughout active Government Statements of Work (SOW).
Objective:
Drive Cencora's success in US federal, state, and local government contracts by ensuring compliance, optimizing performance, and strategically positioning the company to execute on the Government Contract portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Management: Develop and implement long-term government contract management strategies aligned with organizational goals. Drive innovation in government contracting processes to position Cencora as an industry leader. Oversee contract execution, ensuring compliance and performance. Coordinate internal teams to meet and exceed contract requirements.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a liaison with federal, state, and local agencies, fostering collaborative relationships to ensure program success. Coordinate efforts across departments to fulfill contract obligations.
- Performance Optimization: Design strategies to enhance contract effectiveness. Develop and monitor metrics, providing insights to leadership. Facilitate cross-functional team performance.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to regulations. Monitor and report on contract status, proactively addressing potential issues and risks.
- Project Management: Lead project management efforts for timely contract delivery. Use tools to track and streamline operations.
- Process Improvement: Develop compliant SOPs to improve productivity. Complete government-compliant invoicing and related tasks.
- Strategic Innovation and Growth: Identify new business opportunities within the government sector, including emerging markets and new contract vehicles.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, or similar; an advanced degree is preferred.
Experience:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in government contracting and/or contract management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Advanced knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and state/local procurement regulations is preferred.
Skills/Attributes:
- Expertise in contracting and compliance, leadership, strategic planning, project management.
- Strong strategic thinking, attention to detail, compliance focus, effective communication, collaboration skills.
- Preferred training as Government Contract Officer and/or Acquisition Professional.
- Ability to interpret government regulations including FAR and state agency rules.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Acrobat.
- High learning agility and drive.
- Understanding of government procurement processes from requisition to contract enforcement.
- Ability to develop knowledge of Healthcare Distribution Operations.
- Willingness to travel up to 25-40% for meetings and industry events.

Salary Range*:
$121,000 - $186,230 (varies by location and other factors).
