Dedicated faculty, challenging curricula, well-equipped studios, a dynamic roster of visiting artists, and a gallery that focuses on national and international art exhibitions are the aspects of our department which empowers and prepares students for graduate study and fine art careers.

The UAA Department of Art is seeking adjunct faculty for courses in sculpture and art education. Interested candidates in other disciplines are welcome to apply as needs vary from semester to semester. Qualified applicants for this position will be placed into a hiring pool from which instructors will be hired as needed. Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their academic preparation, past teaching experience, expertise in their discipline, and potential for providing high quality instruction to undergraduate students. Adjunct faculty with semester assignments are subject to evaluation for teaching effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications:

A faculty member who is the instructor of record in a credit-bearing course at the undergraduate level should hold a terminal master's degree (MFA), unless an exception has been approved by the Dean of CAS. Exceptions may be made in other circumstances when prospective faculty have special professional credentials and experience. An example of a candidate with special professional credentials might be an accomplished artist. Faculty teaching upper-division courses or graduate courses should hold a terminal degree in the appropriate discipline. Successful applicants must provide official transcripts documenting academic credentials required for the position as a condition of employment.
