Chief Engineer

Description:

The Hilton Anchorage Hotel is currently seeking a hardworking and knowledgeable Chief Engineer.

CHIEF ENGINEER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Familiarize and comply with the hotel's mission and standards in performing maintenance activities.
  2. Maximize the maintenance team's potential with a balanced focus on operations, guests, employees, and owners' satisfaction.
  3. Represent the engineering department during daily morning and weekly operations meetings.
  4. Prioritize, plan, schedule, assign, and supervise the engineering department staff.
  5. Oversee maintenance tasks, work orders, and special projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  6. Respond promptly to guests' maintenance needs, providing professional, efficient, courteous service to Hilton standards.
  7. Maintain the physical appearance and operational efficiency of the hotel, including physical, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc.
  8. Install and maintain equipment related to HVAC, water treatment, fire safety, and more.
  9. Ensure proper records are kept for all plant and equipment, including repairs and services.
  10. Prepare reports as required by Operations Managers, the General Manager, and Human Resources.
  11. Maintain adequate stock levels of materials, equipment, and tools, and keep storage areas clean and safe.
  12. Take responsibility for the cleanliness and safety of all plant and mechanical equipment rooms.
  13. Attend facility management and property meetings, passing on necessary information to the maintenance team and staff.
  14. Ensure proper use and maintenance of all equipment.
  15. Perform daily and weekly property inspections.
  16. Maintain property, grounds, physical plant, and work areas to standard, ensuring safety equipment and conditions meet code.
  17. Establish and maintain appropriate inventory levels for department equipment and supplies.
  18. Train engineering staff on maintenance procedures and assist with repairs as needed.
  19. Monitor and test the hotel's emergency and security systems, including fire alarms, CCTV, baggage scanners, etc.
  20. Discuss maintenance status and inspection reports with the GM and department heads.
  21. Respond to corporate and management inquiries.
  22. Develop and implement emergency programs and energy conservation initiatives to minimize expenses.
  23. Coordinate with suppliers for necessary resources.
  24. Ensure maintenance staff wear proper uniforms with name tags and uphold Hilton hygiene standards.
  25. Oversee quality service, meet financial goals, and manage day-to-day operations and planning.

THE IDEAL PERSON TO LEAD OUR MAINTENANCE TEAM SHOULD HAVE:

  • Advanced knowledge of building management/engineering with a positive attitude.
  • Good communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-level customer service.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor of Science, diploma, or college degree in electrical or civil engineering preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience and 3 years supervisory or managerial experience in a hotel engineering department.
