Description:

Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

This is an executive position (no union affiliation) serving at the pleasure of the Mayor of the Municipality of Anchorage.

Department and Work Details

  • Department: Human Resources
  • Hours of Work: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Location: City Hall, 632 W. 6th Ave

The starting salary for this position is approximately at the midpoint of the displayed range based on qualifying experience.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage does not sponsor visas or work permits.

Position Overview

Set direction and a positive tone for primary Human Resources functions in accordance with AMC 3.30 and the Mayor's (or designee's) guidance to ensure operational units have capable employees to serve the public effectively. The role involves process improvement in HR service delivery across units including Labor Relations, Recruitment, Benefits, Payroll, Classification, and Records.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field, with 12 years of HR experience, including 2 years in a supervisory or administrative role.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in the same fields, with 10 years of HR experience, including 2 in supervision/administration.
  • OR Master's degree in the same fields, with 8 years of HR experience, including 2 in supervision/administration.

Requirements

  • Valid State of Alaska Driver's License at hire.
  • Satisfactory background check including criminal, education, and employment history.
