Mechanical/Piping Engineer - Anchorage, AK
**This position is based in AK, is a long-term contract. Relocation assistance is not provided, but a roundtrip flight and per diem for qualifying candidates are included.
Job Description
Our client is hiring multiple positions at various levels, from Mid-level to Specialist Mechanical/Piping Engineers, depending on experience and competencies.
The Mechanical/Piping Engineer is responsible for researching, specifying, developing, designing, engineering, or testing components, equipment, and systems within a multi-disciplinary engineering and design team. Candidates are expected to apply advanced engineering principles, methods, and techniques to project assignments.
Responsibilities
- Research and analyze data such as client proposals, specifications, and manuals to assess design feasibility.
- Collaborate with clients to develop project scope, estimates, and schedules.
- Review and approve project drawings, standards, and specifications.
- Develop specifications for major equipment, materials, and construction.
- Utilize computer-aided engineering and design software to perform tasks.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and laws.
- Support fabrication and installation phases, ensuring adherence to engineering documents.
- Coordinate activities across project disciplines involved in fabrication, operation, and repair.
- Provide technical guidance to engineers, designers, and drafters.
- Demonstrate professionalism in task management, creativity, teamwork, communication, efficiency, client responsiveness, decision-making, and problem-solving.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The following outlines typical education and experience for each level; alternative combinations of education, training, and experience may also qualify:
Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- At least 2 years of experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Senior Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 4-10 years of oil and gas industry experience.
- PE license strongly preferred.
Staff Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 8-15 years of oil and gas experience and PE license, or 15+ years of experience without PE.
Senior Staff Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 15+ years of experience with PE license, or over 20 years of experience without PE.
Principal Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 20+ years of oil and gas experience with PE license, or 25+ years without PE.
Additional Experience:
Experience with arctic pipelines, process piping, HVAC systems, and familiarity with ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 codes, ASHRAE standards, and material specifications.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD, and piping stress analysis software such as Bentley AutoPIPE.
