Pango Technology is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to support our customer's enterprise systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex data challenges, optimizing performance in mission-critical environments, and working with both legacy and cloud-integrated database systems.

About the Role:
As a Database Administrator, you will:

  • Collaborate with a skilled team of 10 Programmer Analysts and 2 DBAs to design, develop, and implement robust software solutions.
  • Take ownership of enterprise databases with a focus on Oracle and SQL Server , with Postgres and Azure experience as a bonus.
  • Ensure the performance, security, scalability, and reliability of enterprise-wide database systems across multiple platforms.
  • Automate database tasks and streamline data operations using tools such as PowerShell, PL/SQL, and T-SQL.
  • Monitor and tune database performance while proactively identifying and resolving system issues.
  • Design, implement, and maintain logical and physical database structures in support of critical business applications.
  • Support data integration for structured and unstructured data environments within a cloud-adjacent data lakehouse.
  • Lead database upgrades and migrations, collaborating closely with development and infrastructure teams.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation on system configurations, processes, and best practices.
  • Serve as the primary contact with software vendors, coordinating updates, patches, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and occasional weekend work for critical support and maintenance activities.

Key Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates who have:
  • Five years of DBA experience, including:
    • At least two years working with Oracle database versions released in the past decade.
    • At least two years of hands-on experience in database design, programming, or development.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field (e.g., MIS, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering). Four years of additional equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency in SQL development, database object creation, and schema design in both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong query tuning and performance optimization skills.
  • Hands-on experience with database scripting and automation, using PowerShell, PL/SQL, and T-SQL.
  • Familiarity with application development in a client/server environment is preferred.
  • A solid grasp of basic database security, access controls, backups, retention policies, and disaster recovery planning.

Ideal Candidate Will Also:
  • Be comfortable working across on-prem and cloud-integrated data systems, including Azure.
  • Be proactive in exploring emerging technologies, automation tools, and performance enhancements.
  • Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in fast-paced enterprise settings.
  • Bring strong documentation habits and clear communication skills to support cross-team collaboration.
  • Have experience supporting data lakehouse architectures (structured + unstructured data).
  • Live within commuting distance of Anchorage, Alaska.

This onsite position is based in Anchorage, Alaska. Strong preference is given to candidates already living in our community. Remote work is not available.
