In the role of Alaska Power Market Sector Leader, you'll be responsible for:

  • Client management and development, serving as a client and project manager for future assignments with key clients in the area
  • Identifying and developing project opportunities, serving as a pursuit champion, and supporting HDR pursuits
  • Planning, directing, and monitoring large multi-disciplinary projects or medium-sized projects with high technical complexity
  • Assessing the marketplace to determine the best business approach to win and secure contracts
  • Collaborating with other market sectors and business groups
  • Serving as the Client Manager for key regional clients and maintaining industry presence
  • Promoting HDR services to clients in partnership with client managers
  • Working with Business Group Managers on market sector initiatives
  • Driving client development and pursuit processes with leaders
  • Supporting pursuits through relationship development and strategic planning
  • Participating in industry associations and representing HDR in business and community organizations
  • Identifying key investments to maintain or enhance HDR's industry leadership
  • Building relationships with industry counterparts and senior client leadership
  • Enhancing practices for marketplace performance and staff development
  • Leading recruitment efforts for future market sector employees
  • Coordinating support among departments and with local leadership
  • Driving technical excellence and supporting marketing efforts
  • Identifying needs for new technical services and products
  • Planning staffing and recruiting with Market Sector Directors
  • Supporting talent management and resource planning
  • Managing market sector profit and loss, project delivery, and QA/QC programs
  • Facilitating cooperation and removing barriers to success
  • Monitoring performance indicators and implementing process improvements
  • Promoting effective resource use and work sharing
  • Assisting with contract reviews and risk management on key projects
  • Supporting quality assurance and technical expertise development
  • Disseminating lessons learned and taking on project management roles as appropriate
Preferred Qualifications
  • Alaska PE license
  • Experience with Alaska power projects

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, planning, or related field
  • At least 10 years of industry experience
  • Experience in strategic marketing for planning or engineering services
  • Proven ability in managing client relationships and project pursuits
  • Experience in staff development and industry involvement
  • Ability to collaborate with various leadership roles
  • Commitment to HDR values and culture
