Description

The Deposit Operations Specialist provides a superior level of service to members and fellow employees by supporting all monetary deposit operations for the credit union as assigned. Some related duties the Deposit Operations Specialist may perform include, but are not limited to: mailed deposit processing, mobile deposit processing, share draft review and processing, reconcilement for assigned general ledger accounts, and support activities for other Deposit Operations functions. The Specialist II has subject matter expertise level experience with all areas of a Deposit Operations Specialist, and routinely handles more complex transactions such as SWBC settlements, ACH processing and wire transfer processing.

This position is located at our Abbott Headquarters (1941 Abbott Rd.). This position offers a Hybrid work schedule and requires a minimum of three days per week to be worked on-site.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Completes mailed deposit research and processing.
  • Accurately posts entries to the general ledger and to member accounts. Maintains adequate supporting documentation for all general ledger journal entries.
  • Processes all Canadian item cash letters to Fed and balances the general ledger to ensure proper payment, changes Canadian item rate on SharePoint weekly.
  • Processes the check 21 Fed Forward transmission. Pulls each branch deposit separately ensuring the dollar amount balances with the coinciding report.Prepares cash letters for transmission to FRB.
  • Notifies department officer or manager of any adjustments to member accounts or transactions and of any member requests that may not be completed.
  • Posts SWBC Settlements. Responsible for ensuring the settlements are processed accurately, in a time manner in accordance with department procedures.
  • Processes share draft settlements. Responsible for ensuring the share draft settlements are processed accurately, in a timely manner and in accordance with department procedures.
  • Processes and posts chargebacks.

SPECIALIST II ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Reconciles outages on daily, weekly, or monthly general ledger account reconciliations for applicable general ledger accounts, maintaining adequate supporting documentation.
  • Processes and posts ACH files, returns, and distribution and reclamation forms.
  • Processes all and posts incoming and outgoing Wire Transfer requests.
  • Processes and posts ATM/ITM/iPay Program or other mobile banking or deposits settlements as applicable. Responsible for ensuring the mobile deposits are processed accurately, in a timely manner and in accordance with department procedures.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides a superior level of service to members and fellow employees in all areas of the credit union.
  • Maintains documents and reports in a neat and organized fashion in order to facilitate research and improve efficiency.
  • Handles member and credit union confidential information in accordance with information security standards.
  • Ensures specific responsibilities are completed timely and accurately and accounting calculations and entries are error free.
  • Conducts a thorough self-review of all work and maintains keen attention to detail.
  • Develops recommendations and suggestions to resolve problems that occur in specific areas of responsibility or improving effectiveness or efficiency in deposit operations.
  • Meets the current standards as established for the department or branch in the completion of all assigned duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for abiding and complying with the policy for compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws and regulations (BSA/AML), the policy for compliance with the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) laws and regulations and the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions laws and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in operations, preferably in a financial institution
  • Knowledge of financial products, services, operational processes and regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in process mapping, interpretation, and improvement
  • Ability to perform advanced data analysis to identify trends and patterns to support business decisions
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience with project management, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in implementing and monitoring operational policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with technical systems, including online banking, mobile banking, and other financial institution related systems.

Please note: Credit Union 1 does not provide relocation assistance. If selected for an on-site position, candidates will be responsible for relocating to Alaska prior to the agreed upon start date at their own expense.
