Summary

Under general direction of the Vice President of Revenue Cycle, the Senior Revenue Cycle (RC) Reimbursement Analyst will support revenue cycle by managing the reimbursement analysis processes for ANTHC. The Senior RC Reimbursement Analyst will be responsible for preparing the monthly contractual allowances for all payors, prepare analyses for month-end close meetings, and assist with the annual contractual budget and forecasting processes.

Responsibilities

Manages monthly close analysis and accounting, including systematic process providing insight into various reimbursement impacts such as payor mix, service mix, operational changes and prior period adjustments. Prepares the calculation of Accounts Receivable and reserves for all payors including the timely submission of the monthly journal entry. Prepares all contractual allowance percentages from Kodiak/Crowe reimbursement model as well as other tools as needed. Prepares trend reports and analyses of charges, payments and contractual allowance and explain significant variances. Provides support as needed to Finance and Operations on reimbursement related matters. Assists in the annual contractual budget and forecasting process. Assists with the preparation of the model template to be utilized in the annual budget process for third party reimbursement. Reviews government agency bulletins, publications, and the Federal Register to understand proposed and actual state and federal government statutory and regulatory changes that impact ANTHC and analyzes the financial and operational impact of the changes to ANTHC.

Monitors revenue variances in collaboration with operations. Identifies and researches opportunities to enhance revenue/reimbursement. Assists with the annual financial audit. Reviews payor contract rates and monitors monthly payment results for variances. Perform reviews of over and under payments based on expected reimbursement to amounts allowed by payors. Research root-causes for issues arising from the monthly AR valuation. Performs interim-month reviews of patient accounts and evaluate impact on month-end AR valuation. Work with other revenue cycle areas to determine impact of billing operations to AR valuation. Work with revenue cycle staff to acquire data regarding payment, denials and other related data as it relates to AR valuation.

Prepares logs and data needed for the preparation of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and interim reviews. Maintains current working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and other regulations. Prepares various financial analyses as requested by management. Prepares and analyzes financial data for opportunities. Assist with provider enrollment. Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within revenue cycle, promoting teamwork and collaboration.

Other Information

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of revenue cycle metrics and drivers, particularly in billing and collections (A/R days, cash goals, aging, compliance metrics).
  • Knowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System, local, state, federal and Tribal rules, regulations, and operational guidelines and directives; and accrediting agency standards (i.e.: The Joint Commission, American Medical Association).
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices and their applications.
  • Knowledge of principles of healthcare reimbursement. Demonstrated expertise with Medicare and Medicaid regulations in a health care or federal intermediary setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of third-party regulations and the interrelationship of financial statements to not only comply with regulations but to maximize and develop strategies to increase the organization's reimbursement rate with ongoing changes.
  • Strong Accounting background and knowledge in preparing and/or reviewing health care financial statements which are required to perform accurate account analysis.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast paced environment, while being efficient with a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Solid attention to detail and ability to work well within a deadline driven environment.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and software. Knowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System, ANTHC, and Alaska Native culture(s).
  • Knowledge of the Privacy Act of 1974 and HIPAA Privacy Rule. Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of applications.
  • Ability to provide leadership and influence others.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently, meeting deadlines, and changing priorities.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or another similar field. Progressively responsible professional work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

Minimum Experience Qualification

Non-supervisory – Five (5) years of work experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
