Accountant I, Payroll Specialist

SUMMARY: This Accountant I Payroll Specialist is an administrative professional responsible for maintaining payroll systems and processing paychecks according to schedule and in the correct amount. Their duties include consolidating timesheet information and entering data into payroll databases, calculating paycheck amounts, and distributing funds to employee accounts. The position will play an active part in the Finance Team's work during the organization's annual financial audit process. The ideal candidate will support the organization's long-term sustainability by displaying attention to detail in the accounting cycle and ensuring transparent, proactive engagement with employees, vendors, and stakeholders while completing financial operations.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Experience using payroll processing software, Paylocity experience a plus. Advanced education associate degree or higher preferred. Experience with non-profit organizations preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets is required: pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, and basic formatting. Ability to work well with Team, other Departments, Managers, and Directors. Ability to work independently. Ability to achieve and maintain first aid and CPR certification. Must pass a name-based and fingerprint criminal records background check.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, sit, stand, utilize fine and gross motor manipulation, and climbing ramps, stairs and/or into planes. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily a normal internal work environment. Performing the duties of this job may include activities hosted outdoors in various weather conditions. Noise levels for activities in the Club environment may be loud. The position will include regular local travel to Clubs in the Anchorage/Mat-Su region and occasional travel to other communities the Clubs serve statewide. Work during evenings and weekends will occasionally be required, given the nature of the position and its connection with community partners.
