JOB SUMMARY: The Recruitment Lead will support the Elder Mentor and Senior Companion programs to meet their volunteer recruitment goals. The Recruitment Lead will travel to communities across Alaska and recruit volunteers to join the program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate with Administrative Lead position to identify events and target communities to create schedule and plan for summer recruitment.
  2. Attend events across the state that provide opportunities to recruit people 55 and older into the program. Distribute program interest forms, applications, and brochures.
  3. Distribute recruitment materials to important locations across Alaska, including posting flyers in key central locations.
  4. Track and report on recruitment events to program staff including number of interest forms distributed and overall results from events.
  5. Collaborate with Administrative Lead position about interested applications and moving them through the onboarding process.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs other job related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor to support RurAL CAP projects or programs.

WORK ACTIVITIES:

  1. Heavy daily use of computer and phone.
  2. Must be able to work long hours during travel.
  3. Able to endure work fluctuations, deadlines and interruptions.
  4. Speaking with strangers in person and over the phone.

  1. Bachelors Degree or equivalent 4 years experience in community development or similar professional field.
  2. Technical experience with recruitment.
  3. Ability to read, comprehend, and follow established policies and procedures.
  4. Ability to manage work time well, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  5. Ability to exercise good judgement, courtesy and tact.
  6. Ability to establish a good rapport with people of diverse cultures and belief systems.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  8. Must demonstrate sound judgment, professional boundaries, ethics, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/JOB CONDITIONS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to grasp, type, see, talk, hear, and lift and carry 50 LBS pounds of weight by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner. This position will also be performing physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, and handling materials.
  2. Sleeping on floors with mat while traveling out to rural communities.
  3. Occasionally performs sedentary activities that require sitting for long periods and repetitive use of hands, wrists and arms for handling, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating things.
  4. Must be in good general health and free from serious physical, mental health and/or substance abuse problems.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a [enter full or part]-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or hours vary with location. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS AND REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Must pass state and federal background checks, including fingerprints.
  3. Bachelors degree or 2-3 years of experience in the field.
  4. Responsible work ethic with reliable attendance.
  5. Proven ability and willingness to be self-directed in problem solving and decision-making and perform basic assignment with little or no direct supervision while also working effectively as a team member.
  6. Demonstrated intermediate level of computer skills necessary in order to use and create documents and reports, spreadsheets, workshop materials and slide presentations, and to enter data into intricate database programs and proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
  7. Must keep all matters concerning participants in strictest confidence as required by HIPAA privacy and the 42 CFR, Part II confidentiality regulations.
  8. Must be able to provide own transportation to meet work schedule requirements.
  9. Must have a valid driver's License and maintain a valid driver's license throughout the course of employment. Must provide a copy of current driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles annually.
  10. Must have an insured vehicle, present proof of insurance, and maintain proof of insurance throughout the course of employment.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelors Degree.
  2. Two to three years of experience working in Community Development.
