Description:

Clean Harbors is seeking an Hourly Operations Supervisor - CleanPack Services, a dynamic position that encompasses both fieldwork and administrative responsibilities. This role plays a vital part in hazardous waste management, chemical packing, and ensuring regulatory compliance. In addition, you will be responsible for logistics coordination, documentation, and overall operational support.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust CleanPack background with proven experience in handling hazardous materials, preparing manifests, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Approximately 30% of the role involves on-site CleanPack duties, while the remaining 70% consists of office-based tasks, including preparation of manifests, waste profiles, scheduling, and monitoring vehicle maintenance.

A CDL is not required upon hire, but it will be expected as part of your long-term development in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize health and safety compliance with all work practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct CleanPack field operations, including chemical packing, waste identification, and proper disposal at customer sites.
  • Prepare manifests, profiles, and regulatory documentation in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and internal policies.
  • Assist in logistics and scheduling to enhance operational efficiency, collaborating closely with internal teams and drivers.
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules to ensure timely preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain compliance in staging, storage, and transportation of hazardous waste through rigorous inspections and documentation.
  • Train and support personnel in proper PPE use and regulatory training for CleanPack activities.
  • Participate in regulatory compliance efforts, reporting, and audits related to waste management and transportation logistics.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to optimize scheduling, enhance customer service, and streamline operational workflows.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal compliance regulations.
  • Safely operate vehicles per U.S. DOT and other relevant regulations.
  • Follow all corporate operating guidelines and environmental health and safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven background in CleanPack operations (waste disposal, lab packing, regulatory adherence).
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, or hazardous waste management.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and shift between office and field environments.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to successfully complete background checks, drug testing, and physical exams.
  • Meet physical demands as outlined for the role.
  • Comply with OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard regarding facial hair.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College degree in Chemistry or a related Natural Science.
  • CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsements (or willingness to pursue).
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and logistics processes.
  • Experience in leadership or supervisory roles.
  • Knowledge of RCRA and OSHA standards.
  • Previous experience in Environmental Services, such as remediation and spill response.
