Job Description
The Customer Service Division of the Anchorage Trial Court is accepting applications for a Court Case Manager 1 (salary range 10) to assist the public with a variety of case types and perform case management duties.
* Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency may receive consideration for an advance step placement.

** Please note that employees working in this job classification will promote to salary range 11 after successful completion of three years of service with the court.
Job Duties

  • Accept filings for civil, small claims, and criminal cases; set up and index new case files;
  • Review filings for completeness and route to appropriate division; assign judge and issue summons for civil cases;
  • Schedule court dates for dissolution cases, uncontested divorces, domestic violence, and FED cases;
  • Provide assistance to the public, private attorneys, state agencies' staff, and other court system staff that includes file and copy requests, forms orders, and research materials;
  • Assist customers with court processes, giving direction to available resources; communicate professionally and clearly to the public, attorneys, and other state agencies;
  • Operate a multi-line telephone, answering general customer service inquiries;
  • Issue written orders; appointing marriage commissioners; schedule marriage ceremonies;
  • Recall outstanding civil and criminal bench warrants, process criminal requests and orders and requests for rescheduling of arraignments;
  • Receipt money into the proper account codes for civil orders, copies, restitution, certified mailings, forfeitures, bail, fines, and marriage ceremonies;
  • Balance till and generate a daily cash drawer summary report;
  • Periodically train co-workers and assist other divisions as directed; and other duties as assigned.

What hours will you work?

Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break depending on the needs of the court.

The Work Environment

The Customer Service Division is located on the first floor of the Nesbett Courthouse. Each employee will receive a private parking pass for the courthouse parking garage. As a Court Case Manager 1, you will become a part of the Anchorage Trial Court helping to fulfill the mission of the Alaska Court System.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).
Substitution:
Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.
Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.
Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
