This role is all about supporting key HR functions, from recruiting top talent to managing employee benefits, and ensuring that our team thrives. We're Cook Inlet Housing Authority – we develop, own, and operate a portfolio of affordable rental housing in the Cook Inlet region of southcentral Alaska. We are leaders in community development and advocacy work around affordable housing. We are the Tribally Designated Housing Entity for Cook Inlet Region Inc. What You'll Be Doing:

Recruitment Rockstar 🏆:

  • Design Recruiting Strategies: Get creative with recruiting methods and strategies to attract the best candidates!
  • Collaborate with Hiring Managers: Work with hiring managers to understand ideal candidate qualities and ensure job descriptions are always on point.
  • Screen and Interview: From posting job openings to conducting phone interviews, you'll help bring in the best talent.
  • Onboarding: Lead new hire orientations – you'll guide employees every step of the way.
  • Job Fairs & Career Events: Represent our company at job fairs and spread the word about what makes us awesome!

Benefits Guru 💼:

  • Manage Benefits Programs: Administer everything from health insurance to retirement plans – it's all in your hands.
  • Benefits Support: Answer questions and help employees navigate through enrollment, status changes, and more.
  • Leave-of-Absence Management: Administer FMLA, ADA, and disability paperwork with ease.
  • Annual Open Enrollment: Organize this annual event to ensure everyone is ready for the year ahead.

What We're Looking For:

Think you've got what it takes? Here's what we're after:

  • HR Enthusiast: You love human resources and people in general, understand the importance of HR, and want to make an impact.
  • Attention to Detail: You can multitask without missing a beat and keep everything organized.
  • Excellent Communicator: Whether written or spoken, internal or external, your communication skills are on point!
  • Confidentiality Expert: You handle sensitive information with care.
  • Self-Starter: You're independent but know how to collaborate with a team to get things done.

The Basics:

  • Education: An associate degree or related certification is preferred, but if you've got relevant experience, let's talk!
  • Experience: 2+ years in Human Resources - especially in benefits.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification: If you've got it, great! If not, we'll help you get it.
  • Experience with Retirement Plans (PERS, 401(k), 457?) Even better!
