Job Summary
The Student Nutrition Warehouse Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of a warehouse dedicated to supporting the child nutrition program. This position involves managing inventory, overseeing product delivery, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations to guarantee the timely and safe delivery of nutritious food to children. This position will report to the Student Nutrition logistics supervisor. The position has a retirement association with the Public Employees' Retirement System.
Job Requirements
The following are required:
- A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience, education, and training will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
- Previous experience in warehouse management or logistics, especially in food distribution.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Commitment to the mission of providing nutritious meals to children.
Essential Job Functions - Inventory Management:
- Monitors inventory levels of food products, ensuring an adequate supply to meet program planned menu demands.
- Conducts regular stock counts and audits to maintain accuracy.
- Tracks shelf life, rotates stock, and manages perishable and non-perishable items effectively.
- Warehouse Operations:
- Responsible for inventory control management and condition of OSHA, DEC and HACCP principals for Student Nutrition Central Warehouse.
- Responsible for training and advising of warehouse personnel on proper procedures including material handling, safety standards and documentation.
- Oversees the receiving and reconciliation of goods and invoices and the determination of appropriate courses of action regarding products such as product acceptance, product refusal due to damage, storage of products, and shipment of items from Student Nutrition central warehouse to school sites.
- Implements safety protocols and ensure a clean and organized warehouse environment.
- Quality Control and Compliance:
- Ensures that all food products meet regulatory standards and program guidelines.
- Conducts quality checks on incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Maintains records and documentation required for compliance reporting.
- Logistics and Distribution:
- Plans and coordinates the delivery schedule to program locations.
- Optimizes routing and transportation methods to minimize costs and delivery time.
- Addresses any delivery issues or discrepancies promptly.
- Reporting and Data Analysis:
- Generates reports on inventory levels, order history, and program performance.
- Analyzes data to identify trends and make recommendations for process improvements.
- Responsible for reviewing and revising necessary warehouse forms, procedures, and documents as needed.
- Budget Management:
- Assists in the development of the program budget related to warehouse operations.
- Monitors expenses, track spending, and identify cost-saving opportunities.Top of Form
- Supervise and lead warehouse personnel:
- Leads and develops teamwork culture with all departments.
- Directly supervises Student Nutrition warehouse staff including hiring and performance evaluations.
- Reports to the logistics supervisor.
- Collaborates with department leads on improving processes, procedures, and customer service.
Physical /Mental Demands The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, be able to readily recall facts and details, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.
