Description:

Purpose:

The General Manager is responsible for the functions of daily operations, overseeing and managing the team within each department according to BAC values, standards, and procedures to ensure organizational success, effectiveness, and efficiency.

Scope:

The General Manager reports to the CEO and is responsible for maintaining an efficient, positive environment, ensuring company goals and objectives are met as set forth by upper management. The General Manager oversees the Department Managers/Directors, Supervisors, Customer Support Agents & Dispatchers, Contract & Crew Shuttle Chauffeurs, Access Ambassadors, Mobility, and EMS Team. They work diligently with the Leadership Team to maintain and develop effective quality controls in each department. The General Manager ensures government regulatory compliance, meets team needs, and cultivates a positive and safe work environment while demonstrating the BAC core values.

Responsibilities:

Environment:

  • Maintain a positive, clean, organized, and safe work environment for all.
  • Design and implement company policies.
  • Ensure office and shop supplies stock levels are adequately inventoried, anticipated, and maintained.
  • Ensure office equipment is functioning properly.
  • Maintain filing systems, including protections and security of files and records.
  • Plan and implement office systems and layout.

Team:

  • Demonstrate the ability to lead, communicate, and champion the BAC core values, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure the top four goals are met by leading the team through decision-making, guidance, coaching, training, accountable measures, and clear direction regarding performance expectations.
  • Ensure completion of all supervisor duties outlined on the daily checklist.
  • Act as relief help when needed to complete all department duties.
  • Establish effective and positive communication among all team members.
  • Ensure effective team member scheduling in each department.
  • Ensure compliance with BAC's standard operating procedures and policies through evaluation, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure that all cash handling procedures are followed.
  • Ensure proper execution of rates.
  • Promote and practice safe work habits, rectifying and reporting potential safety hazards and operational inconsistencies to the CEO.
  • Complete operations reports, document incidents/team member accidents, and conduct initial investigations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ensure proper follow-up and resolution of all incident reports.
  • Cultivate an attitude of proactive responsiveness to prevent customer service situations among the team.
  • Ensure proactive action in solving customer problems and satisfying customers in various situations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures regarding vehicle cleanliness and trip punctuality.
  • Educate all team members on products and services by developing an understanding of various vehicles and services provided in each department.
  • Maintain quality control standards through phone/field/service/vehicle spot checks.
  • Fulfill all other duties assigned by the CEO.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; a four-year degree or equivalent supervisory experience of 50+ employees preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills.
  • High-level problem-solving and decision-making skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Flexibility in daily tasks, stress management, and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills in English.
  • Keyboarding and computer skills, including spreadsheet and word processing.
  • Basic knowledge of business financials and cost tracking.
  • Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and special events as needed.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask with high accuracy in preparing and entering information.
  • Must have a current driver's license with a clean driving record and no DUI.
  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol tests.
  • Must pass a federal background check for security threat assessment with fingerprints.
  • Must possess a current DOT medical card.
  • Must be willing to obtain a CDL class B license within the first 180 days of employment.

Environmental Conditions & Physical Demands:

This work requires sitting or standing for long periods, using office equipment, driving in challenging road conditions, and may require lifting up to 70 lbs. Work is performed in both office and shop settings within multiple locations in Anchorage, Alaska, including both indoor and outdoor environments with potential travel within the state. Peak seasons include but are not limited to summer and holidays. Average work week is 40-50 hours. All BAC Transportation vehicles and buildings are smoke-free.
