Example of Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to maintain the Municipality of Anchorage Park land and facilities in a case and usable condition for the general public to enjoy. The park caretaker I position is the first level classification in the park maintenance series. Perform routine park maintenance under general supervision. Focus on tree work: Cutting down of designated trees. Lambing and bucking of felled trees. Chipping and hauling tree debris to wood chipper by hand. Safely operating a wood chipper to chip tree debris. Trimming away of undesired portions of trees using industry standard practices. Planting of new trees by hand using basic hand tools such as shovels. Basic maintenance of chainsaws, chippers, and other tree work related tools. Helping work with the public at invasive removal volunteer events. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
Six (6) months experience in lawn, landscape, trails, construction, grounds, or facility maintenance.
- Must posses a valid State of Alaska Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
