The Kodiak Island Borough School District is looking for the following positions for the 2024-2025 school year:
Food Service Helper
Location: North Star Elementary
Hours: 3 hrs/day, 5 days/week
Salary: Entry Range 10.5, Step 1: $17.57 per hour
Position Summary:
The Cafe Helper, under the direct supervision of the Cafeteria Specialist, does manual tasks in a school cafeteria, assisting in preparation of foods for the school lunch program.
Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of sanitation precautions and practices.
2. A general knowledge of food preparation procedures.
3. Ability to follow instructions.
4. Possession of a valid food handler's health certificate, if required, and have an annual physical.
5. Ability to work well with public, students, staff, and parents.
6. Ability to maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
7. Ability to safely, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
8. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Responsibilities:
1. Know how to operate all food service equipment.
2. Prepare various foodstuffs as may be required by the master menu or directed by the Cafeteria Specialist.
3. Assist in setting up work area, the serving of and replenishment of food items on the serving line.
4. Keep clean all equipment used in the food service complex.
5. Clean work areas, counters, walls, storage areas, etc.
6. Sweep and mop floors.
7. Maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
8. Serve as back-up to the Cafeteria Specialist as necessary.
9. Other duties as assigned from time to time.
