SALARY
The compensation for this position is $18.12 per hour with a quarterly bonus program.

POSITION SUMMARYThe Cargo Service Agent plays a crucial role in the efficient handling and transportation of air cargo. The team member ensures all tasks are carried out following Northern Air Cargo's policies and procedures with a strong focus on safety, organization, and adherence to regulatory guidelines. The work is divided into two main sections, ramp, and warehouse.
DUTIES- Maintain the safety and security of the cargo facility by strictly adhering to policies and procedures while contributing to a positive workplace.
- Handle the loading and unloading of inbound and outbound air cargo shipments, ensuring they are advised to the correct destinations.
- Greet and assist customers with unloading cargo from delivery vehicles, using material handling equipment such as non-powered equipment, electric pallet jacks, and forklifts.
- Complete and process required paperwork for customer shipments accurately, promptly, and in a courteous manner.
- Verify customer freight against receiving documents, perform data entry, and label cargo. Conduct security inspections and process additional paperwork for Dangerous Goods as required, ensuring cargo is air eligible and ready for on-time shipment.
- Follow all cargo acceptance policies as outlined in the Manuals for Cargo Service Agents, adhering to regulatory requirements and guidelines.
- Communicate and document safety concerns, irregularities, issues, and successes to management in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Refer to cargo manifests to consolidate, stage, and assemble shipments.
- Perform cargo breakdown, build up, and tie down into and out of Unit Load Devices (ULD) manually or using forklifts.
- Utilize powered and non-powered ground handling equipment, including forklifts, K-loaders, belt loaders, tugs, dollies, carts, and vehicles to transport cargo to and from airport facilities.
- Handle the pickup and delivery of standard and priority mail to and from the Airport Mail Facility.
- Perform special duties and other projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 18 years old.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Ability to prioritize daily workload and duties effectively.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to frequent changes in the workplace.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), holidays, and days off as needed.
- Compliance with Company uniform requirements, including high visibility outerwear provided by the company.
- Approved safety footwear is required.
- A basic understanding of cargo operations is preferred.
LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS- Proficient verbal and basic written communication skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT- Exposure to adverse weather conditions such as cold and heat, wet surfaces, and icy conditions.
- Work near stationary and moving aircraft.
- Use of personal protective equipment is required.
PHYSICAL EFFORT- This is classified as "heavy" regarding physical demands.
- Able to regularly lift 50 lbs. and push/pull 100 lbs. on a cart.
- Good vision and hearing is required to perform all duties and tasks in a safe manner.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to feel objects and handle tools and industrial equipment.
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, climbing and balancing on ladders and stairs, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
