** Night Security/Janitor**

Alaska Zoo Anchorage AK **Position Title:** Night Security/Janitor **Position Location:** Anchorage, AK ** Primary Position Duties:**

* Maintains the necessary upkeep of public areas, restrooms, paths and buildings. Also acts as security patrol, conducting routine visual inspections of the facility. This is a part-time position two (2) nights per week (and as needed) from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

**Roles and Responsibilities:**

+ Cleans and stocks restrooms.

+ Removes trash from various locations.

+ Notifies supervisor, senior staff, emergency services of any situation requiring immediate or prompt attention.

+ Secures premises through patrols, visual inspections of gates/entrances/exits, completion of daily reports of irregularities that occurred during shift.

** Education or Skills:**

* The candidate who fills this position must have strong attention to detail, be able to work independently as well as in a team, be able to drive a zoo vehicle, willingness to work a non-standard/flexible schedule, ability to observe safety/security procedures, willingness to comply with zoo policies and in possession of a valid drivers license. The candidate must also be able to arrive on time, demonstrate effective time management skills, maintain effective working relationships with supervisors/co-workers and be willing to take on other tasks as assigned based on the zoos needs.

** Position Requirements:**

+ Frequent standing and walking

+ Use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms

+ Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear

+ Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds

+ Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

+ Willingness and ability to work in Alaska weather extremes
