Alaska Job Seekers: You've Had Your Job Interview: Now What?


Now that you have finished the job interview, you may thinking "what comes next?" When you are applying for jobs in Anchorage, there are some steps to take to give yourself the highest chance of a call back. Regardless of what you think your interview performance was, adhering these steps will give you a boost and help you stand out from the competition.

1. Don’t be afraid to ask about the next step is: at the end of the interview, simply ask your interviewer what comes next. This way, you'll know what to expect and when the right time for a follow up email or phone call would be.

2. Write a thank you letter: this definitely is your top priority immediately after your interview. A good letter to your interviewer should reiterate your interest in the position, and give them thanks for considering you for the position. If you were interviewed by several different people, each one should all receive thank you letters as well. It's acceptable to send these via email.

3. Send a follow up email: if your interviewers tell you that they will have an update in a week then set your watch and send them an email a week later (if you haven’t heard back from them yet). Not only with get you an update, this email will also show that you paid attention during your interview.
